AUTISM

 

Did you know that 3.5 million Americans live with an Autism Spectrum Disorder?  Did you know there is no medical detection or cure for autism.+  Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a developmental disability  that can cause significant social, communication and behavioral challenges. There is often nothing about how people with ASD look that sets them apart from other people, but people with ASD may communicate, interact, behave, and learn in ways that are different from most other people. The learning, thinking, and problem-solving abilities of people with ASD can range from gifted to severely challenged. Some people with ASD need a lot of help in their daily lives; others need less. ++

Gracious & Tenacious, Inc. has joined the movement to help bring awareness, and support those families as we shine a light on Autism. 

 

 

 

 

 

BREAST CANCER

 

Breast cancer touches us all.  It’s a journey we take together.  Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women worldwide and the second-most common cancer overall.  In 2014, an estimated 232,030 cases of invasive breast cancer were diagnosed in the U.S. alone.  So no matter who you are or where you live, understanding breast cancer is important.  But the most important thing to know is this: a diagnosis is not a death sentence.  Breast cancer can be treated. *   All people, whether male or female, are born with some breast cells and tissue that have the possibility to develop into cancer. **

DORCAS HOUSE

 

A Division of Union Rescue Mission, the Dorcas House reaches out to women and children of Central Arkansas with housing, counseling, daily chapel services and programs to help change lives.  Those who are struggling with chemical dependency and other addictions, or domestic violence can find hope and support to break the shackles of their issues and begin to rebuild their lives.  The program encourages women and children to address deep-seeded pain and suffering like childhood sexual abuse, co-dependence and depression.  If you or someone you know needs help, then please call the national domestic violence hotline at 1-800-799-SAFE(7233); to be directed to the appropriate shelter or safe house.^  Gracious and Tenacious, Inc. serves the Dorcas House as we continue to promote a healthy self-esteem and inspire hope within girls and women.
